    Frankfurt day 1
So here I am in Frankfurt after having experienced the airline industry's equivalent of a tossed salad, I have never seen the flight crew look frightened on a flight before, when they see me get on, yes, but then most people react like that when they first see me. I was greeted by the crazy women in the fore cabin who greeted everyone with a hearty "Gutten Tag" and shook their hands as they passed her. How did I know she was crazy? The stewardess told me, apparently this women is well known on this route. Being in the aft cabin I missed the show but was assured by the stewardess that it got better as the flight wore on.

I checked into my hotel and was greeted the standard Novatel attract screen (see Gallery) and immediately checked out. I was informed by one the old hands here that you can check into a better hotel at the special corporate rate and get a better room for less and so I did (see Gallery).

Now Wi-Fi access is an interesting concept, it is available in the room from 18:00 - 9:00 for a fixed fee, all other hours it about the same amount per hour. Just one of the interesting things I have notice here like when the traffic light changes. It goes from red to red and yellow to green. Now I am used to the light going from green to yellow to red, so I can only assume the Germany arrangement is for the same purpose as the US version, so you can speed through the intersection as quickly as possible.

    One Foot Short of Chicago
So it was the usual flight from Seattle to Chicago, that is to say it was late. So you can imagine everyone suppressed joy at arriving at the gate, this was expressed by everyone who had not jumped into the aisles to grab their luggage the second we were wheels down, did so now. And so there we stood ready to stampede our way through the exit the second it opened, the minute it opened, any minute now. Finally the Captain came on the PA to announce that we (why we I don't know, I wasn't in the cockpit) had stopped a foot short of our gate and the ground crew could not line up the 'bridge' with the plane. So, would everyone please put their luggage back, sit down and buckle up. He then started up the engines and we rolled forward one foot. I do believe I have now taken part in the shortest commuter flight ever, quick call the Guinness Book of Records.
